The PC version is out at the end of the week (I think?) and I'll be off to the shops, I've read a couple of xbox360 reviews and they rave like it's one of the best games ever made. I even saw a trailer for it at the cinema, looks grand!

Playing the demo is like nothing I've played before, from the start its just so different. It has real atmosphere to it & a kind of beauty to its visuals that is both stylish & alive.

PS3 pfft.. Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros. Brawl and RE: Umbrella Chronicles on Wii by the end of this year and you can buy all, extra controllers and the zapper for less money then just the Sony console.

Back to Bioshock, it's grand, I think I'm about 2/3 through it now. Graphics wise it's best game I have and the art design is amazing too. The sound is terrific, so good in fact I'm considering getting a surround sound headset to replay it. The game-play is great and the story is solid. While it's perhaps not quite the revolutionary game some reviews are making out in my opinion, in what's turning out to be a year of great games for me, this is one of the best I've played so far. My favourite thing about it though is the psychological edge to it, as well as being quite creepy, there is some uncertainty to who the real enemies are, I do feel genuine compassion for some of my foes and am continually faced with moral questions.

ps3's are pointless unti CD technology gets better, only reason i would get one is for the F1 game and i can get and brand new 1 for ?200

i wudnt waste ur money m8, my brother bought 1 with the f1 game :/ its ok but very tidius, dont get me wrong its good to start off with and very realistic, but when the game is a replica of the previous season of F1 it looses its appeal.

not many games out for it yet that really are worth buying a ps3 for. gta 4 heavenly sword or assasin's creed will be the 1's to watch.

btw back on topic. bioshock is probably the best fps single player since half life 2. not completed it yet but slowly getting there :)

I thought GTA4 was exclusive to the 360?

got Bioshock on the Pc as my poor x1900xtx is starting to die on me... As the irishman said this is by far the best single player fps since HL2. Almost finsihed the game on the 360, its very different kind of a mixture like system shock and deus ex.

Well worth getting in my opinion... PS3 sucks!!!!!!!!!!! assasin's creed, and Gta4 both for 360. 360 will have exclusive episode releases for gta4 thats the only difference between them!

yes ok 360 will have GTA4 'exclusives' and so will the PS3 and also if it ports over to the PC that will too

Only just killed my second big daddy (or was it the third) but gotta say the game rocks! A friend of mine just told there's a nice twist coming in the plot (well not a surprise, really)... I've been playing slowly. Don't wanna ruin a good game by playing it through in a couple of days.

your friend is correct about a surprise in the plot of the game. what happens is .................................................. ...... Atlas comes out of the closet and tells you he loves you in a special way, you fight one last big daddy only to discover that Atlas was inside one of the suits and just before he dies he tells you he will always love you!!!!:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Only joking i could tell you what happens as i have finished the game but i wont spoil it for anyone, top quality game!!!!!!!!!

Agreed, I think I'm near the end of the game but took a few days off because I'd been playing fps games to much, but it's taken me a while, I like to explore the levels and try different attacks and such. People seem to rush through games these days and boast after that it only took them 15 hours or whatever, if it's a good game I feel it should be savoured. At the start of the year I remember people complaining that they 'beat' the new zelda game in 30 hours and it was claimed it'd take at least 40, my final game time was 65 hours a significant portion of which I spent just fishing or riding around on me horse.

EDIT: Just finished BioShock, I stand by everything good I said about the game earlier in this thread.

Just completed Bioshock... The end was easier than what I expected... The chemical thrower is just that good!

Wonder if the ending would have been much diferent had I decided to harvest little sisters instead of rescuing 'em.

Considering that <100 electric gel (with fully upgraded chemical thrower) was enough to drop one big daddy I should have played hard difficulty level instead of medium. And you know how the electric gel works... The opponent can't make any resistance. Even you-know-who was completely paralyzed.

My advice is that don't be too stingy with adam. I had over 400 adam at the end and nothing to spend it on. Although I killed at least one extra little sister and even got the teddy reward for that (=game bug).

garyhayes
19-09-07, 11:32
Well i saved about 50% of the little sisters so i know what the end is smokey :) "its a little weird!"

i didnt like that weapon, but the granade launcher is awesome... i also ended up with loads of adam, but thats because when you kill the end boss you get loads and you cant spend it!!!

Next game to get is World in Conflict ....

I'm a sap for kids so i saved them all and got the nice ending, didn't have any adam left by the boss (who was to easy imo) but I think I got all the upgrades. Never used the electric gel unfortunately on daddies or boss, I saw a video where decoys worked, but for boss I used nades and shotgun and for daddies I set up 4 trap bolts, shot him and he killed himself trying to get me.

yeh i went for the trap bolt idea aswell isi :) saved on my rpg and frag grenades. only on level 7 at mo cos i dont play very often.
