Use this website to find real landline numbers to 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845, 0870 and 0871 numbers.

The above numbers are normally chargeable from a mobile but if you dial the landline equivalent the call time would come out of your free minutes (if you've got a contract phone!).

With NTL I get free calls to all landlines but 0844, 0845, 0870 and 0871 numbers are charged at the normal rate - so I use the number from here....

Bit of a tip, as these 08xx etc numbers are just ported to the 'real' number, the person on the other end doesn't know which number you've dialed. So if you're making a complaint, use the old "and I've been stuck talking to you on this 50p a minute line for the past hour. Are you going to pay me back for that as well as fixing my {insert broken item here}? Are you? ARE YOU????" line. Free money.
