Ok now i'm watching the match and i'm seeing hardly any thing that backs up sven's claim. "we can be like brazil"

Erm we drawing 0-0 wit northen ireland and we haven't even threatend.

Not jus that but the formation works of Sven jus aien't working.

Now i don't know what you guys think but is it me or does sven seem to be losing the plot?

New manager or new captin or new formation>??

Feed back would be nice imo i think beckham should be dropped revert back to a 4-4-2 with phillips on the right downing on the left lamps and gerrard in centre owen rooney up front wit the usal back four. Robinsson in goal.

I don't see beckham's long range passing suiting this england team. Sort fast passers would work with the pace and control we have. Gerrard and lamps can provide the long ball if needed. Plus gerrard can take free kicks and corners and rooney has a good free kick strike.

Do we need becks?

That was really shocking. :x

To be honest. Lampard and Gerrard shouldn't be on the pitch at the same time. They just don't gell very well.

We should play Carrick in 'Beckhams' role. Make him the anchor man, and allow all the attacking players to attack. Have Rooney and Lampard further up the pitch. With Downing on the left and Beckham on the right.

Later on in the match we can bring on Owen/Defeo, Gerrard/Cole and Sean to give added pace and a different vision.

But Carrick needs to be played.

Ummmmm..................

TBH the few last matches have been SHOCKING - We've apparently got the players to win it but at the moment they couldn't score in a brothel. I think Rooneys frustration at the end of the first half was a sign that all is 'not well' in the England camp (did you see what he was saying to the other England players whilst walking off at the end of the first half :| ). With the possesion that England had they didn't do anything with it (same as the Wales match).

Debuts for Michael Vaughan and Flintoff maybe? Or maybe someone from Eastenders could play (Ian Beale or Alfie Moon maybe)?

ummmm welll.... all i have to say is that im going out later to buy few papers to read what all the critics will say about sven..

....and giggle mumbling "i told u so a yr ago"

I think tbh Gerrard and Lamps could Gel really really well...in a basic 4-4-2 formation with some pace on the wings. We've seeen Owen and Rooney playing up front they can score goals!

You loook at how the defence is rio and campbell/terry is solid with the regulars at full back.

Imo becks has no place. Neither does sven. And rooney should be played less. He's starting to get the mentality that he is to big for this england team (jus watch is language to senior england players)

He should be placed on the bench brought on later if he has this mentality he would use his aggression and be the player he exploded onto the scene as.

I'm worried for this world Cup....i can really see a bad year comeing up.

I think Rooney has no problem at all, he's been playing well out of position. Must be frustrating for him, as for his reactions with the other senior players, well tbh did Roy Keane ever 'chum up and be all pleasant' no. To be a leader you have to tell players off, Lampard and Gerrard were useless yesterday. Becks was the best player on the pitch by a mile, espically in the first half.

Hollis
08-09-05, 19:25
Rooney isn't a leader tho....We don't want him to be a leader we want him to score goals and keeep his lid on.

Tbh whats better having rooney for 45 mins then gettin sent off..or having a striker who scores for the full 90

I'll tell ya the striker i really hope that rooney can contain himself and become the main lincpin of our team.

becks was the best player on the pitch but tbh its only coz the formation suited him but not the team. duffs is right about the midfield gerrard and lamps should play together coz frankly their the best midfielders in europe, sven should be kicked up the arse and booted out of this country for disgracing our national game ffs if not just castrate the bastard so his mind on the game and not getting his nuts in tbh. grrr he pisses me off the swedish prick

Your so right imo wots the point in having a formation in which beckham is awesome at the price of lamps, gerrard, owen and rooney becomeing in affective. its bout time Sven picked the team on whats needed and not who he is in love with.

Hollis
08-09-05, 19:36
Aye it did but.....the thing is with that.....i don't think it be ready in tme for world cup being bridge comeing back from ankle injury this month he wont' play agasint poland or austria.

Leaving them out of pratice and thrusting them into the world cup be as suicidal as......the las game

My My this Sven fool has a lot to answer for.
Is it just me or have England been really poor in the last few weeks?
Personally I think he has lost the respect of his players, that is why I feel he fields beckam as captain, as he thinks that he will do his job for him with regards to keeping players on side.

As someone stated earlier, Rooney needs to be sidelined for a bit, just to let him know that he is not the 'be all and end all' of English strikers.
His behaviour of late has left a lot of people questioning whether Sven has got real control or not. Sideline him for a bit (as was posted earlier), let him sweat a little.

As for the squad and the pool of players that England have, it is almost frightening, Sven should have ditched at least 5 or six players from the Denmark fiasco and allowed others to stake their claims to an England spot.

When we play bad (Scotland) then we can say lots of things like:
The squad is small
We just don't have the quality of players that is really needed
If we take him out of midfield who can we get to replace him

However we managed to do alright in the last two games with a good manager and the same squad.

I think that Sven is too busy trying to fondle the secretaries and too afraid to sideline some of the big stars.

The guy just does not have what it takes and I hope that he gets the bullet the minute Englad qualify for the world cup. That way it would give someone who is up for it at least 6 months to gel a team which (on paper) is very capable of actually winning the thing.

To put it bluntly. Rooney has never had a problem for United, it's only on England duty is when he gets frustrated which probably speaks alot about the England setup atm.

Might be due to the fact that mr ferguson is a mad dictator guy, and mr errikson is just a mad muppet :D

YEEEEE SOME ONE READ MY POST :D

but i agree with everything there i honestly don't think rooney deserves to be in the team coz he's name is rooney. I honestly see owen being in there yes coz he's Owen because he's our prolific scorer. Rooney is his partner...not the toher way round.

Anyone watching the game tonight?

After Saturday's tepid performance I can't say I'm particularly enthusiastic about the prospect of playing Croatia away. And then there's the old 3-5-2 question, have Croatia got any wide players that could exploit that?

AB_Drax
11-10-06, 14:34
Croatia are a spent force IMO, although that won't stop them embarassing us. Kranjcar and Modric are my pick of their players (though kranjcar isnt doing it for pompey yet but thats prolly just settling to the prem). Kovac brothers are getting on and still to agressive, dont be surprised if Robert gets sent off for a couple of blatent yellows. Simic and Simunic are gettin on too (they seem to have been aroud for ages anyway) but i dont think we're going to have any pace in the side to exploit it and I dont think they'll have any great problems from the girraffe so a difficult game I'm thinking...

tbh i don't think he has played a full 90 yet in the prem unless he did at bolton! but harry rates him so we need to keep an eye on him.
