For a bit of fun, what fiendish idea have you got for tf2??

For the already over-equipped engineer, it would be fun if he could lay down a sticky gum to catch people, who have to walk out of it slowly losing health....:D or if ur a soldier or demo, bomb jump out of it

For the medic, he could lay down a virus that can only be cured by your own medic and not health packs....:D and the pyro can "steralise" the area

Any more??

I don't want to have a go, you may not have played the original, but have you got any original ideas that arn't already in tfc? 'sticky gum' = caltrops (scout 'special' grenade) and 'virus' = (excuse the term... again) AIDS (medic's action when hitting enemy with first aid pack).

I'd like to see both weapons brought to tf2 tbh, along with the EMP grenade as I've mentioned in another topic.

I was thinking about Perfect Dark stuff in TF2 (maps mainly) the other day, because of the custom maps inspired by other games, but several guns would be good too, though they'd probably ruin the game..

SG's that can be placed on walls or ceilings [like a laptop gun] (for engies).
Proximity mines (for spies to place on people or the surroundings).
Ping-pong grenades [low powered grenades that kept bouncing until it hit someone] (for demos).
Farsight [IR sniper that shoots through walls] (a short time upgrade for snipers).
Slayer [remote piloted rocket] (one or two for soldiers).
N-bomb [huge explosion stun grenade] (for pyro suicide runs).

Also how about an Uzi for scouts, some sort of one one off pre-deth self destruct for heavys like the implant in dystopia or a lethal injection for the medic.

I'd like to see a direct fire weapon for the demo, just as a backup. Or maybe the dynamite-frag-thing seen in the TF2 vids...

Pyro could have napalm grenade (molotov cocktail). Uses 50 fuel to throw, sets ground on fire for short time. Garrunteed death to any class except heavy without medic/health station support.
Other idea was for pyro to have an assist gun, like the medigun which gives allies fire abilities. Lets friendlies do small fire damage with their meele weapons.

Heavy could have Armour Peircing bullets. Does normal to infantry, but extra damage to structure, and Anti-Personell rounds for vice versa.

Soldier could have snipers uzi-rifle for support.

Medic could have AIDS or maybe replace his medi-gun with snipers uzi and instead have a healing aura, but no ubercharge.

Spy could get British voice cover (instantly better spy).

Sniper could get support drone (think kill-copters from bioshock) that protect from attacks when sniping. If sapped by spy, it goes beserk and shoot teammates or sniper.

Slayer [remote piloted rocket] (one or two for soldiers).

Now that would be so cool....and would upset the engies (unless he shoots it down)

Drax, I haven't seen the original team fortress, but it goes to show that the virus thing would be good....

and a british voice for the spy would be cool as well, maybe a sean connery touch....

I'd like to see the virus thing back, but the problem you got with it was that some numpty who'd be infected would stand outside spawn and infect everyone else as they left!!

Hrmm well I *think* the scout may get a nail gun like in the trailer vid but I would like to see the wee lad get a faster rate of fiire gun of some sort. Doesnt matter much on the damage output IMHO...in fact you know I want the Scout to have Dual Wield Pistols. Yeah Dual Weild gimmie gimmie!

Pyro must have a Molotov Cocktail. That would be sweet.

Demoman some sort of land mine, plantable mine or dynamite stack(bear in mind I have never played the original TF so im completely making these up)

Soldier I reckon will get a rapid fire machine gun type gun, at least thats what I would like to see but it may make everyone go Soldier.

Heavy now apart from anti spy and sniper shields what does a heavy really need? *ponders* More bullets!!!

I want a special old man class who can use a walking stick as a weapon.

Ok, for those that have not played the original TFC allow me to try and explain the old weapons etc (mainly because I think we should bring some back!!)

Scout - Had caltrops (metal spikes) that he could drop to cause light persistant damage to anyone who walked on them, slowing them in the process. Also had conc grenades that caused the screen to 'swim' and go funky colours. You could launch yourself a great distance with these babies but inexperienced players we often confused by the whole conc-jump phenomena. No normal grens. Had a nailgun too, but in TFC this was pretty crappy.

Sniper - Sniper rifle could also be used as an automatic weapon unscoped (in addition to the weak nailgun which he sort of has now), but the clip was small. The main rifle also used to charge on click rather than as soon as you went into scoped mode.

Heavy - Had MIRV grenades!!! These babies would explode and release 4 smaller grenades which then spread out a bit and exploded too! He also had a double shotgun.

Soldier - Main addition compared to now would be the double-shotgun backup weapon and the nail grenade. This fella, once thrown, would hover and spin, shooting nails in a 360 degree arc. Not particularly harmful but really annoying and one of those things that could hurt a few people and finish off someone retrating.

Medic - As mentioned before, had a medipack instead of a healing ray. This would instantly heal teammates and infect (AIDS) the enemy (except enemy medics). Needed ammo to use though. Also had conc grenades and a suped-up nailgun.

Spy - Had the pill grenade that would mess up anyone caught in it, did a bit of damage, but messed with your sound etc. Also had nailgun/shotgun and tranquiliser gun to slow down enemies (like the caltrops but you could fire it at people).

Engi - Had EMP grenades! These babies could cause havok! Pyros (and dispensers) beware, get caught in an EMP blast with any ammo on you and you became a messy blot on the floor, along with anyone standing within about 10 feet! EMPs hurt most of the big offensive classes too, anyone with a lot of ammo on them basically. They also had an anti-structure weapon, it did bugger all damage to people. Back in TFC you could drop ammo too, to give the engis all their 'metal' for building with. Oh and AFAIK dispensers just gave out ammo, not health.

Demoman - Not much different, sticky bombs wern't sticky, just pipe bombs, but they did blow up when you died, not just disappear. The biggest difference was the detpack, huge time bomb basically. You needed it to open up some parts of some maps i seem to remember. Had MIRVs as well.

Pyro - Had incendiary rockets, kinda like the soldiers RPG but with a bigger clip and much less power. The rockets exploded on impact and set fire to anything in the splash. Also came with incendiary grenades (read molotov cocktail).

Thinking about what I want now, I would definately like to see the caltrops and tranquilizer (s or z?) back, slowing people down is a really useful tactic, especially on ctf maps. If they toned down the EMP to only hurt structures, it might encourage the engi's to venture out of the flag room/cp. Personal preference, I'd like the sniper rifle to go back to click charging as it would allow you to zoom in without alerting the enemy to what you're doing. MIRVs were, and probably are, too powerful to come back, as is a molotov. The incendiary rocket might not be so bad though, slow moving enough to be avoidable, but the slash could do some damage to big groups. The detpack could be cool, especially if destructable map parts were re-introduced.

Pill and conc grenades no, because they caused too many problems before. Nail grenades, perhaps. Anyway, now you know what there was before (if you didn't already), what do you think we should bring back, or like the topic's about, what new ideas do you want to introduce?

SG's that can be placed on walls or ceilings [like a laptop gun] (for engies).

Proximity mines (for spies to place on people or the surroundings).

Now that is the best idea I've heard yet!! :D

Ping-pong grenades [low powered grenades that kept bouncing until it hit someone] (for demos).

You've certainly got my attention 8)

Farsight [IR sniper that shoots through walls] (a short time upgrade for snipers).

I detest the sniper class, therefore I cannot possibly agree with that

Slayer [remote piloted rocket] (one or two for soldiers).

Not a bad idea.

N-bomb [huge explosion stun grenade] (for pyro suicide runs).

As far as the spy class is concerned, the pyro is already menacing enough

Also how about an Uzi for scouts, some sort of one one off pre-deth self destruct for heavys like the implant in dystopia or a lethal injection for the medic.

If any class needs a change of weaponry, I believe it's the medic class. I can understand the concept of the syringe gun, the class being a medic and all, but in my opinion it leaves the medic somewhat out gunned and maybe a little vulnerable. I think the class would benefit from being equipped with a straightforward real world automatic weapon of some kind, an SMG maybe.

Would be good if teleports gave a streak thru the sky when used, not lasting very long, just enough to let you know roughly where they were coming from and going to.

Ok, for those that have not played the original TFC allow me to try and explain the old weapons etc (mainly because I think we should bring some back!!)

This sounds good.
