Why does the custom map server only rotate a few maps? Pretty boring to play through 3-4 rotations of the same maps every day :(

Pretty boring to play through 3-4 rotations of the same maps every day :( D3vilfish 17-01-08, 04:50 Current map rotation is :- ctf_hallofdeath cp_wolf ctf_turbine_v3 cp_desertfortress cp_castle3 ctf_revolution_b6 cp_smbcastle cp_meleebarn 8 maps taking approximately 3to 4 hours to cycle through! there are other custom maps on the server but we keep the map rotation small so people aren't continually dling new maps! However if you have any new map suggestion we are always happy to look @ new maps. Capping the last CP in cp_smbcastle is next to impossible. ctf_hallofdeath is pretty much only demo spam. I recorded a demo of me using the pussy tactic of standing in the corner as a heavy and running away when health is an issue, which a bunch of people use because it racks up points on hlstatx without risk. People don't realise the good tactic on hall of death is to defend with engies and attack with ubered pyro's. I'm tired of whining at medics who insist on ubering heavy's on said map. Unless you get jipped by a spy the 3rd cap on warpath is impossible and ends in a slow dragging stale-mate but I like it. Science is s great map, it's a shame there's so many directionless players who moan about being lost. I like grand canyon, turbine and wolf are favourites and other then the random sniper kills as you exit spawn warehouse is hardcore! Fortified2(?) was alright, desertforterss I can't recall, castle3 and revolution I could take or leave and smbcastle is hella awful in every respect! What happened to cp_horace/horas? the egyption one, good game-play and excellent looks. I also liked jinxed but people kept going the wrong way and foldtown even though it was a fumble in the dark. Has anyone made a jump across the gap? I know you fall back as well as down and when I tried it I failed but it seemed doable. Which map was labor? Labor was the map with 5 CP's, the middle had containers around it bit like granary, and the 2nd's were in front of the main spawn building and you went thru a house or a barn to get to it. The final CP being in the main building. This was a good map, lots of fun and couldn't really be dominated that easily. Thanks, I looked labor up as well, I remember it, there's a glitch where sg's can be can shoot through a big white cylinder in the surroundings by the second cp, so you can place a sentry out of sight thats can't be shot from forward positions but can shoot out. Has that been fixed? Like Granary it was also very reliant on taking the middle point first. Also it's a bit small for the server when it's full. From FPSbanana: ***NOTE TO 32 PERSON SERVERS*** -while this map was not made for 32 person servers, many play it for a fun time since 32 people in close quarters is just like the old tfc days. If you run this map in a 32 person, instant respawn server I recommend you set the respawn time up to 4 or 5 seconds. Otherwise I liked it though. As for lazytown the map was virtually un-winnable due the large spawn protection allowing defenders to swamp the last cp whilst remaining relatively protected. Even if the respawn time is raised and the map had a time limit there'd still be the spawn protection problem and it'd just be a long grind, but now to sudden death. Out of all the custom maps I have played Lazytown has always been one of my faves. Ok so its not the most technical of maps or particularly great looking but it utilises choke points and the 2 route formula pretty well IMHO. Anyway umm please add Laztown? ;) AB_Drax 11-03-08, 17:48 Afaik the time limit bug still isn't fixed and until it is, lazytown is a no-no because the map never ends (on the same note, dock suffers from this problem too and should probably be removed for the time being). Valve seem to break the fixes every update so until the map-makers figure this whole time limit thing out its always going to be a problem. Valve seem to break the fixes every update so until the map-makers figure this whole time limit thing out its always going to be a problem. It certainly used to be a problem but I have been playing on a server recently that had a "lazytown-efix" version that seemed to work just fine. Something has definately changed in the last couple of weeks. I play late at night (often after midnight) and used to just go on whichever of the two servers I could get on, but lately server one has often been full or nearly full, yet server two would have ten people, yet when I look they're all in spectator. Does it coincide with them borking the ammo levels, or does it empty during particular maps? 3, Why would server one think 60 mins of hallofdeath is a good idea? After less than thirty mins we'd already done 6 rounds, which is plenty to learn that I am the best ;) Perhaps with these wierdnesses there is an argument for rtv, but I'd seriously suggest dropping the percentage - I don't think many things in history would have found an agreement if they required a 75 percent majority, that's simply not likely where free will and choice are concerned. 60-66% at least indicates a majority but is a bit more achievable. To be fair I haven't played or been on the forums much in the past week or so (sorry if I'm bringing up stuff I've missed), purely because I was becoming bored of to much gaming, but my favourite thing about the server was the variety of maps, is playing dustbowl/badlands and a couple of other popular maps repeatedly really fixing a downturn in players on the server? It keeps being mentioned but decreasing the number needed to carry a rtv (if it hasn't already been done) is needed in my opinion, so the majority can make changes when it needs to be done. I'd also consider reseting the stats soon, to be honest I've never been much of a fan or that interested in them and gave up following mine at all last month, but could it be putting people off knowing they'll never rank particular well given the amount many already have played thus far? It might not be possible but I'd like to see a return to the good days of playing something fun like turbine followed by something crap but still different like that demoman map or just trying new maps. Japan - Don't like it, too much of a snipers map and doesn't follow the good map making pattern of having a choice of ways to go. The tunnel is too easy to defend and the main entry to the middle is a snipers paradise, which is why you get loads of snipers on this map. There needs to be an alternate way in to the middle, like splitting it into 2 doorways, some distance apart with a couple more obstacles for the snipers to find a way through and keep the tunnel for amusement value. Redstone - Big, very 'Granary' style but interesting because of the options available. Lots of little nooks and crannies where SG's could lurk and quite a hard map to win. Lots of running to the action, which is OK and you don't get too much of an advantage in respawn positions. I like this one, but, as I have said, this is Granary dressed up a little different. I'm looking forward to Goldrush, and I hope they keep the cart idea. It seems quite novel and hopefully will keep TF2 fresh. It is almost impossible to take the final CP with even teams. At least twice I've been on a losing team where we get all the way to the final CP, fail to take it and maybe get pushed back in a counter-attack and we suddenly start losing players (people loggin off as it's late and they're bored with the map), it all gets horribly unbalanced and the other team wins. If there was someway to prevent the deadlock, Lazytown could be a nice map. That sort of stats programming would have to be submitted as an idea to hlstatsx.com as they are the coders of the stats, yes server 2 stats were lost in the combine of the 2 servers but now you can play on either server and build points to one set of stats, Unfortunatly one set of stats had togo and as there are less players in the db on server 2 it is common sense that it had tobe server 2. It is the only casualty unless you want stats reset across the board that or just wait a couple of months when we reset them perodicly! Whereas a not so good player playing the last 10 hours before a reset get 25 points per kill might clock up way more then 5k. Also, players volunteer to be killed, i.e. one goes scout so a medic can kill them 5 times, so stats are really a no no. I think they are a good way of short cutting the system, however I can't see simian running a special server for it, but there are servers in the list that are there for achievements. Just a quick way of getting it, stats free, if you want them. The idea is to be there with like minded people who don't mind dying to benefit you and vice versa. If you are talking about, - i'm not sure but i think the checkpoints dont prevent the cart from returning, so you can end up with the cart behind the locked gates if you aren't carefull enough.I just checked that and the payload does stop at the checkpoint. The new routes, spawn areas and decreased capture times means there is no longer an excuse NOT to win this. My only problem is still with the last point, though. Still no way to avoid snipers properly, although you can now make your way towards the doors of the enemy team's spawn. This has to go up ASAP. However, they are very similar, so I dunno. Stampede maybe correct about the snipers, but overall it is nowhere near as bad as in Lazytown on the last point. the extra side routes and the new layout of the middle CP definitely change the gameplay for the better. the new spots for Engies to setup, new corners for Pyros to turn and burn, basicaly the whole idea and the only main problem with Lazytown (whoever gets the middle usualy keeps it and spams downhill towards the only 2 contact points) is now negated. A very refined map, up there with Turbine and Warpath as my 3 favorite maps now :mrgreen: 10/10 Edit ps: oh, i just remembered. Great map it may be, however i do remember that we are only able to play 1 single round so far. I'm pretty sure the crowd will like this Map as every class will have fun there. I hope SC will give this map a try. I personally don't like cowpath much, it looks quiet funny with the cows which provide you with health/ammo/metal and the Spies hanging on the gallows but finally it's a boring Map.
