As a result of the Israel vs Russia game yesterday, England are back in with a chance of qualifying for next years European championship. I'm going to the Croatia match on Wednesday (my first match at the new Wembley stadium) - it's gonna be a nail-biter I'm sure!

I think McClaren should go after Wednesdays match no matter what though - I don't think we're gonna get anywhere with him. The only thing is... it seems no one else wants the job!!

I was disappointed yesterday that Scotland didn't qualify - IMO they deserve to be in next years competition more than England do!! Their teams have done well in the Champions League and that match was theirs yesterday but for the referee!!

Any thoughts?

I thought Di Natale's goal wasn't offside, so they would have lost anyway had decisions been different. I wanted them there so we could have another chance of a Euro'96 drumming. I still think we'll stuff it up on Weds.

Finland has a slight chance too \o/ Too bad we suck at soccer. Ought to win Portugal this Wednesday and have a little luck with the other matches (Serbia vs Poland).

my first chance to post since the match....

Our defence was utterly rubbish at times. There was no urgency in the dying minutes of the game. The players seemed to be running away from their own throw-ins as if they didn't want the ball! Carson looked like he was time-wasting when he should've been releasing the ball as quick as possible.

Glad McLarens gone..... but why haven't the heads of the people who appointed him toppled too? A few of the players should follow him out of the International fold IMO.... surprisingly I wouldn't consider Beckham to be one of them!

....Loved the stadium though!!

The funniest part of the night was getting stuck in a huge queue into Wembley Park Underground Station after the match. A voice announced over a loudspeaker; "you are being held in a queue due to overcrowding in the station - DO NOT PUSH FORWARD". The crowd thought it was Steve McLaren but then a policeman appeared with a megaphone!
